St. Luke's Kids

Living His Word

Safety, Biblical Teaching, and Creative Learning

Our mission is to partner with parents to train up the next generation of fully devoted followers of Christ.  We dance, sing, and create as we learn all about God.

Sunday Mornings

8:15am-11:30am – Children’s Courtyard
Nursery care is provided throughout the morning while adults attend Worship and Sunday School.  No reservations are needed.  The time spent in the church nursery is an important step in your child’s development.  Infants learn to trust adults outside their own family and begin to associate love and nurture with their church – a prelude to experiencing God’s love.  The Nursery is located in the Courtyard Area.  Our rooms are safe, clean and stocked with age appropriate materials for your child’s enjoyment.  When the weather permits, we also spend time on the attached playground for toddlers.
Our professional childcare staff members, coordinated by Danielle Caskey, receive annual infant/child safety, first aid, and CPR training and have completed Safe Sanctuary training and background checks.
On arrival, please sign in at the room door and make sure all items the child needs are labeled and checked in.  Be sure to share any feeding instructions, allergies, special needs, or concerns with the staff.  Please leave a cell phone number in case of an emergency.  At pick-up time, sign out your child and pick up your belongings.
The Nursery is also available for other church-related events besides Sunday Morning.  If you would like to request Nursery Care for an event please use the link below, or contact Danielle Caskey or the Church Office.

Our goal is to engage children’s faith so they can make wiser choices, build stronger relationships, and develop a deeper faith.

Children’s Classes:

Three’s & Fours

Kinder-2nd Grade

3rd-5th Grade

10:30am – Knowles Chapel

During the 10:30 am worship service, children ages four through second grade are invited to attend Children’s Church.  During this time, children will have their own worship service with scripture, prayers, worship music, Bible lesson, and fellowship with their friends.

On communion Sundays, we will not have children’s church so that families can participate in communion together in worship.

Wednesdays (September-May)

Pick-up & Drop-off in the Ballard Activity Center

The St. Luke’s Children and Junior Choirs are the first part of Wonderful Wednesdays – a fantastic after school program for kids age 4 (by September 1) through grade 5. This is a program extended to all children regardless of church membership.

In the choirs, the children will have lots of fun while they learn biblical lessons, singing skills, Orff instruments, social skills, and leadership skills. They will learn to be an active part in their spiritual, physical, and mental growth.

The three choirs:

Cherub Choir (age 4 – Kindergarten)
Angel Tones (grades 1-3)
Hope (grades 4-5)

allow the children to be in groups close to their general development level. They sing for several services during the school year as well as present two musical programs and concerts at St. Luke’s and in the Kilgore community.

The choirs are directed by James Vermillion. He has worked with children and youth for over 16 years in both churches and public schools. He has also been the musical director for musicals with the Longview Community Theatre, directed a community production of Handel’s Messiah with orchestra, and been a director in Music Machine sacred music camps for several years in both Kilgore and Tyler.

July 2-7, 2023

Lakeview Methodist Conference Center is a place where memories are made, friendships are begun, and faith is explored.  Every summer, St. Luke’s Youth participate in this life-changing camp experience which is full of bible study, worship, and fun.  All counselors must complete a background check, conference safe sanctuary training, and camp counselor training.  When registering, be sure and register for CAMP SESSION 3 with St. Luke’s Kilgore.  Scholarships are given on a first-come, first-serve basis through Lakeview!
